Fees and Payment
 
I understand that many people may be facing a variety of challenges during these difficult economic times.  Therefore, during the initial consultation, I work with each individual or couple to customize a payment plan that is acceptable to all parties.  Payment can be made by credit card, check, or cash.
 
If you would like to use your insurance benefits, I will provide you with all the necessary documentation that insurance companies require to reimburse you for my services as an "out-of-network" licensed psychologist.
 
You may also use your Heath/Medical Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and/or Health Saving Account to pay for therapy.
 
You may wonder why I am not an "in-network" insurance provider. Here are some of the more important reasons:
 
  • I only share the bare minimum information required for you to get reimbursed.Because I am not a provider for any insurance company, the amount of sensitive information that is shared with them is significantly reduced.
 
  • I develop a treatment plan and goals with you, not with a third-party insurance company who is motivated to cut costs and minimize payments, often resulting in ineffectively short psychotherapy in the opinion of many clients and providers. Because we are not bound by the directives of an insurance company, you and I are able to work together to determine the best course of treatment.
 
  • Most insurance companies reimburse 50-75% of my fees as part of their out-of-network coverage. Check with your insurance provider about your coverage for specific information. You'll find this described in the behavioral or mental health out-of-network coverage section.
